Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement Community Day invites Omaha families to a free day of creativity and connection on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Omaha Community Day at Tenaska Center will offer free arts activities, performances, workshops and family fun on April 11.

Omaha, NE – Omaha Performing Arts is inviting families and residents to Community Day at the Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement, a free event marking the center’s full-scale opening celebration.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Tenaska Center, 1115 Dodge St. Organizers say guests can drop in at any time throughout the day, and while pre-registration is encouraged for some sessions, it is not required.

Community Day is being presented as the Tenaska Center’s full-scale opening celebration. According to the official event listing, visitors will be able to try classes, watch live performances, explore the building, and meet the instructors and artists who will call the center home. Activities are open to all ages unless otherwise noted.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy ongoing activities across the building, including strolling performers and interactive experiences, an Instrument Petting Zoo with the Omaha Symphony, food and beverage stations, bounce houses in the FNBO Garden next to the Tenaska Center, and 50% off camps and classes enrollment.

The schedule also includes workshops and sessions for a wide range of ages and interests, from preschool creative drama and ArtsPlay! sessions for young children to keyboard classes, hip hop dance, music production, songwriting, Broadway workshops, jazz offerings and performances by student ensembles.

With programming spread across multiple studios and spaces, the event is designed to let visitors move through the building at their own pace and sample more than one activity during the day.
