Latinas across Nebraska are invited to nominate a JEFA or share their own story for a chance to be featured in the upcoming regional edition.

JEFAS Magazine Nebraska is preparing its next project and is accepting nominations and applications from Latinas who would like to be considered for a feature in the upcoming Nebraska edition of the magazine, to be published next winter.

This open call is an invitation to recognize women across Nebraska who are building businesses, creating opportunities, leading with purpose and making an impact in their communities.

We want to recognize Latinas whose stories may come from small businesses, family-owned ventures, creative projects, professional services, nonprofits, local events or community spaces where Latina leadership is already making a difference.

The magazine is looking for tales with substance. A JEFA is not defined only by having a business or a title. She is someone whose journey reflects perseverance, vision, culture, community impact and the courage to keep building, even when the path has not been easy.

For many Latinas in Nebraska, leadership happens in practical, everyday ways: creating jobs, mentoring others, helping families, representing the community, bringing people together and showing the next generation what is possible. JEFAS® Magazine Nebraska wants to help those stories be seen, heard and valued.

How the JEFAS Magazine Nebraska selection process works

The first step is filling out the application. Applicants and nominees are encouraged to take their time and share specific, thoughtful answers. The editorial team wants to understand the full story behind each JEFA: what she is building, why it matters, what challenges she has faced, how she serves her community and what she hopes to create next.

After applications are submitted, the editorial team will review the responses and look for stories that align with the spirit of JEFAS®: empowerment, authentic representation, community, leadership, culture, access to opportunities, courage and legacy.

Selected applicants may then be contacted by a writer for an interview, either in person, by phone or virtually. A photographer may also be assigned to capture their JEFA side for the magazine.

Moving through the process does not automatically guarantee final placement in the publication. However, every story begins with the same important step: completing the application.

JEFAS® Magazine Nebraska is part of a larger effort to celebrate Latina entrepreneurs, leaders and women with vision. It is a space for stories that feel real, local and rooted in community.

So, Nebraska, who is the woman people should know about? Who is building a business, creating opportunities, leading with purpose or helping her community move forward?

Nominate a JEFA. Share the application with her. Or, if that JEFA is you, this is your invitation to tell your story.
