More than 1,000 boxes have been prepared as Omaha continues collecting donations for Venezuela
A donation center in Omaha has prepared more than 1,000 boxes with clothing, shoes, baby supplies and medicine to support families affected by the earthquake in Venezuela. The collection is taking place at Millennium Night Club, located at 5083 S. 136th St., Omaha, NE 68137.
Donations will continue to be received at the same location through Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers are also welcome to help sort and organize donations.
Urgent priority items in Omaha
The donation center is accepting medical supplies, including cotton, gauze, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, medicine in general and bandages. Food donations are also being accepted, especially rice, beans and other items in bags, as well as canned food in aluminum cans.
Packing materials are also needed, including large, medium and small boxes, as well as packing tape. Dog and cat food is also being accepted, preferably in bags or aluminum cans.
Items not requested at this time
The donation center is asking people to avoid bringing winter clothing, heels, formal wear, clothing in poor condition or dirty shoes.
Juices or any liquids in plastic or glass containers are also not requested. Food items are preferred in bags, such as rice and beans, or in aluminum cans. Glass containers are not being accepted.
The site is Millennium Night Club, at 5083 S. 136th St., in southwest Omaha.
The location has been receiving donations and organizing supplies for shipment, with volunteers helping sort, pack and prepare the items.
