LINCOLN, Nebraska — Four new traffic restrictions begin in Lincoln during the week of Monday, Sept. 21: three street segments will close, and left turns at L55X and Cornhusker Highway will be prohibited.
The longest project will close Van Dorn Street between 98th and 112th streets until early November. The other restrictions affect Centennial Mall, eastbound O Street and the L55X intersection with Cornhusker Highway.

Centennial Mall closes between M and N streets through Oct. 9
Centennial Mall will close Monday, Sept. 21, between M and N streets for private crane work.
The closure is scheduled to remain in place through Friday, Oct. 9. M and N streets will remain open while the work is underway.
The affected section is in downtown Lincoln near state offices and the Nebraska State Capitol. Traffic approaching the block will need to use surrounding downtown streets.
Left turns at L55X and Cornhusker Highway stop through Oct. 2
Left turns will be prohibited at the intersection of L55X, also identified as 56th Street, and Cornhusker Highway beginning Monday, Sept. 21.
Drivers will not be able to turn left from L55X onto Cornhusker Highway or from Cornhusker Highway onto L55X. The restriction is part of a street improvement project and is scheduled to continue through Friday, Oct. 2.
This is a turn restriction rather than a complete closure of either road.
Van Dorn Street closes between 98th and 112th until early November
Van Dorn Street will close Monday between 98th and 112th streets for paving. The project is expected to keep the eastern Lincoln segment closed until early November.
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities identifies 98th Street, 148th Street and Old Cheney Road as part of the recommended route around the work area.
This project is separate from the Lincoln street closures that began Sept. 14. That earlier work includes a different section of Van Dorn Street between Normal Boulevard and 70th Street, along with the longer South 48th Street project.
Eastbound O Street closes Sept. 23 between 11th and 12th
Eastbound O Street will close between 11th and 12th streets on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for utility work.
The eastbound restriction is expected to remain in place through Friday, Oct. 2. Both 11th and 12th streets will remain open during the project.
The closure affects a downtown block where drivers may encounter additional traffic while moving between O Street and nearby north-south routes.
Weather may change the four construction schedules
Weather and unforeseen construction conditions could change the start or completion dates. Current locations and schedule changes are available through the City of Lincoln street closures map.
As currently scheduled, the Cornhusker Highway turn restriction and eastbound O Street closure will end Oct. 2. Centennial Mall is scheduled to reopen Oct. 9, while the Van Dorn Street project will continue into early November.
