OMAHA, Nebraska — People looking for free groceries in Omaha can search for nearby food pantries by ZIP code, call 211 or use local pantry programs with published weekly hours.
Food Bank for the Heartland does not distribute groceries directly from its Omaha warehouse. Instead, its food finder connects residents with partner pantries, mobile distributions and other food resources based on location.
Pantry schedules and food availability can change because of holidays, weather, staffing or supply. The six locations in this guide are not a complete list of Omaha food resources; the ZIP code tools below can identify additional options near a specific address.

Nebraska residents can also call the Food Bank’s SNAP and Food Resources Hotline at 1-855-444-5556 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The hotline can help callers find food resources and offers assistance in Spanish.

United Way of the Midlands operates the 211 Helpline for food assistance and other basic needs across Nebraska.
Residents can dial 211 or text their ZIP code to 898211. Phone assistance is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with language assistance available for callers who need it.

Project Hope also receives food through the Emergency Food Assistance Program, or TEFAP. The organization states that no ID or additional information is required to receive TEFAP food for people who meet the program’s applicable income limits.

TEFAP food follows separate federal eligibility rules. St. Vincent de Paul states that no ID or additional information is required for TEFAP food for households that meet the applicable income limits.
The pantry distributes nonperishable groceries along with available produce, bread, dairy, frozen food and proteins. Current hours are posted by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha.
