COLUMBUS, Nebraska — The 2026 Columbus Hispanic Festival was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at Frankfort Square as a free community celebration of Hispanic culture, food, music, art and local businesses.

The festival date has now passed. The City of Columbus had scheduled the event from 3 to 10 p.m. at Frankfort Square, with more than 40 vendors, more than 10 food and dessert vendors and a series of family and cultural activities.

No official post-event attendance figures or recap had been published by the City of Columbus as of Oct. 1.

The 2026 festival was scheduled for seven hours at Frankfort Square

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026.
  • Scheduled time: 3–10 p.m.
  • Location: Frankfort Square.
  • Address: 2600-2698 14th Street, Columbus, NE 68601.
  • Admission: Free.
  • Access: Open to the public.

The program was expected to include musical performances, live art, a car and truck show, a fashion walk, inflatables, a mechanical bull and a foam party.

More than 40 vendors and 10 food vendors were planned

Organizers expected more than 40 vendors to participate, offering clothing, jewelry, homemade desserts, baked goods, coffee and artwork.

More than 10 food and dessert vendors were also planned for the event.

The festival was designed to combine local businesses with cultural and artistic programming connected to Columbus’ Hispanic community and the surrounding area.

The festival grew from a Hispanic Heritage art exhibit

The Columbus Hispanic Festival developed from conversations surrounding the Hispanic Heritage exhibit “What Remains, Huellas en el Camino” at the Columbus Art Gallery.

Adi Perez, outreach associate at the Columbus Community Building, worked with local volunteers to develop the festival. Planning initially involved about 20 community members before a smaller team of six continued organizing the event.

The festival was intentionally designed to represent multiple Hispanic cultures rather than focus on one country.

The related gallery exhibit featured work by Graciela DeAnda, Oria Simonini and Eduardo Gardea and ran through Sept. 30 at the Columbus Community Building.

Columbus organizers designed the festival as a community-wide event

Organizers described the Hispanic festival as an event for both Hispanic residents and the broader Columbus community.

The idea also drew inspiration from the Hispanic Arts Center in Omaha before developing into a larger outdoor event at Frankfort Square.

Related: Lincoln Latino Festival brought food, music and family activities.

The original 2026 festival information remains available through the City of Columbus.

As of Oct. 1, the city had not published a post-event attendance total or announced a date for another Columbus Hispanic Festival.
