Nebraska DHHS clients can use iServe to review notices, renew or recertify benefits, upload requested documents and report changes to an existing case.

By Hola Nebraska

NEBRASKA — People who already receive benefits through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services can use iServe Nebraska to manage an existing case, review notices, renew benefits, upload documents and report changes.

These tools are separate from starting a new application. People applying for SNAP for the first time can use Hola Nebraska’s guide on how to apply for SNAP in Nebraska.

For an existing case, the starting point is iServe Nebraska. The portal is available in English and Spanish.

Quick route for managing an iServe case

  1. Go to iServe Nebraska.
  2. Select Manage Benefits.
  3. Sign in to your account.
  4. Check Action Alerts for tasks that may require attention.
  5. Review Benefits Summary for program status and the next review date.
  6. Open Correspondence to read letters, verification requests and renewal notices.
  7. Use Extend Benefits, Upload Documents or Report a Change when needed for your case.

The dashboard shows alerts, letters and the next review date

After signing in and selecting Manage Benefits, iServe opens the My Benefits Dashboard.

The top of the dashboard includes Action Alerts. These alerts identify items that may require attention and can include correspondence related to a case.

The Benefits Summary displays program information, including status, identification number, the next benefit month and the next review date.

The Correspondence section includes letters and other notices sent by DHHS. Information can be organized by date, program, application or pending renewal, including requests for verification.

DHHS provides step-by-step instructions for using the dashboard:

Economic Assistance and Medicaid renewals use separate processes

The Extend Your Benefits option leads to the section for renewing, reviewing or recertifying benefits.

iServe separates the process into two areas:

  • Economic Assistance Review & Recertification: for starting a review or recertification of Economic Assistance benefits.
  • Medicaid Renewal: for renewing Medicaid eligibility when a case has reached its renewal period.

The two processes are not completed through the same renewal.

For an Economic Assistance recertification, iServe requires users to sign in and validate the PIN associated with the case. People who previously used ACCESSNebraska credentials can use them to sign in to iServe.

The system displays benefits that are eligible for extension and then allows users to review previously entered information, complete additional fields, review the application summary, accept rights and responsibilities and submit the recertification.

DHHS offers an English guide for completing an Economic Assistance recertification. Spanish-language training resources are also available through the official iServe Nebraska training center.

Requested documents can be uploaded through an existing case

iServe includes an Upload Documents feature for submitting supporting records related to an application, renewal or verification request.

From the My Benefits Dashboard, the Take Actions on Your Case section includes an option to upload documents.

Before submitting a file, users can review Correspondence to see whether DHHS sent a verification request or another letter related to the case. Action Alerts may also show when additional information is pending.

DHHS may contact a client by phone, mail or email when additional documents are needed.

Address, household and income changes can be reported in iServe

The Report a Change feature allows users to update information such as an address, household composition, income sources and other case details.

DHHS guidance states that people currently receiving benefits must report changes in their information within 10 days of the change.

The process begins from the iServe homepage under Report changes to your situation. After entering information for the person connected to the case, users can select the category that needs to be updated, review the information and submit the change.

If an email address is provided, iServe can send a confirmation after the update is received.

Instructions are available in both languages:

iServe support can help with account access or PIN problems

For technical problems with iServe or a case PIN, Nebraska DHHS offers support at 888-281-6629.

Questions about Economic Assistance benefits can be directed to 800-383-4278. Medicaid assistance is available at 855-632-7633.

DHHS also maintains an iServe Nebraska training library with videos and step-by-step resources in English and Spanish.

A case’s next review date, verification requests and DHHS correspondence can be reviewed through My Benefits Dashboard after signing in.
