The July 3–5 schedule included concerts, fireworks and baseball in Omaha, Ralston, Papillion and Lincoln. However, severe weather changed two major events during the holiday weekend.
The Fourth of July events listed in this guide have ended. The page now serves as an archive of Nebraska’s 2026 Independence Day weekend and includes confirmed changes caused by lightning and rain.
Lincoln canceled the activities scheduled inside Haymarket Park for Uncle Sam Jam after lightning moved into the area July 3. In Papillion, the Omaha Storm Chasers suspended their July 3 game at Werner Park and completed it before the regularly scheduled July 4 game.
Other original listings included a RiverFront concert in downtown Omaha, Ralston’s annual celebration, a family event at Heartwood Preserve and additional activities from July 3 through July 5.

Downtown Omaha scheduled a free RiverFront concert
The RiverFront Community Concert was scheduled for Friday, July 3, at Gene Leahy Mall, 1001 Douglas St. The free program was set to run from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
The Omaha Symphony and Legends of Country were scheduled to perform music associated with artists including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill.
The concert formed part of the Independence Day programming planned for downtown Omaha during the holiday weekend.
Ralston planned three days of Independence Day activities
Ralston’s 66th Annual Independence Day Celebration covered July 3–5. Activities were scheduled in downtown Ralston, at the Historic Granary and near Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
The July 3 program included a family dance on Main Street at 7 p.m. and fireworks near 73rd and Q streets at 10 p.m.
A parade was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. July 4 in downtown Ralston. Community activities at Granary Green were set to follow the parade.

Weather changed Freedom Weekend at Werner Park
The Omaha Storm Chasers originally scheduled games against the Indianapolis Indians for 7:05 p.m. on July 3 and July 4 at Werner Park in Papillion.
Rain interrupted the July 3 game with one out in the top of the fourth inning and Indianapolis leading 1-0. The teams suspended play and scheduled the remaining innings before the original July 4 game.
Indianapolis won the completed game 6-0 and the second game 17-4. Freedom Weekend fireworks followed Game 2 on July 4.
The weekend also included patriotic uniforms, military recognition and Independence Day activities. The original schedule and promotions remain available in the Storm Chasers’ Freedom Weekend announcement.

Heartwood Preserve scheduled a family beach party
Heartwood Preserve scheduled a Beach Party from 2 to 8 p.m. July 4 at 301 S. 145th St. in Omaha.
The original program included outdoor activities, food, music and an afternoon performance by the Ally Venable Band. The event offered a daytime family option in west Omaha before the evening fireworks programs.
Lincoln canceled activities inside Haymarket Park
Uncle Sam Jam was scheduled for July 3 at Haymarket Park, 403 Line Drive Circle, in Lincoln. The original program called for the ballpark to open at 6 p.m., followed by live music, a flag-lowering ceremony and fireworks.
However, the City of Lincoln canceled the activities planned inside Haymarket Park after lightning strikes moved into the area. As a result, the program did not proceed according to its original schedule.

Other listings covered Omaha and western Iowa
An Independence Day bar crawl for adults 21 and older was scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. July 4. The starting location was Upstream Brewing Company, 514 S. 11th St., in Omaha.
Oakland, Iowa, also scheduled activities July 3 and July 4 on Main Street and at Chautauqua Park. The original program included food trucks, a car show and fireworks.
The Omaha Storm Chasers scheduled American Family Day for July 5 at Werner Park, with a 2:05 p.m. first pitch, patriotic uniforms and a postgame Catch on the Field promotion.
