LINCOLN, Nebraska — Two Lincoln streets will close Monday, Sept. 14, as construction and pavement work begin in different parts of the city.
South 48th Street between Cotner Boulevard and Sumner Street will close for a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. The closure is expected to remain in place through winter 2026.
Van Dorn Street between Normal Boulevard and 70th Street will also close Monday for pavement repairs. That work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 25.
South 48th Street closure will affect StarTran Route 53
The South 48th Street closure will be the longer of the two projects beginning Monday.
Access to homes and the hospital in the area will remain available during construction. StarTran Route 53-SouthPointe will be detoured while the closure is in place.
The work is part of improvements along the South 48th Street corridor between Normal Boulevard and Cotner Boulevard. The larger project includes pavement work, curb and gutter repairs, utility adjustments, accessibility upgrades and changes near the intersection of 48th and Sumner streets.
Water main replacement work is also being coordinated with the street improvements in the same area.
