Kendra Limon, Chicana artist, shows in Columbus (2026)

Kendra Limon, a multidisciplinary Chicana artist based in Lincoln, uses her work to celebrate Mexican-American culture, identity and community.

An Artist is Born

Art has the power to tell stories, preserve culture, and create connections across generations. For Kendra Limon, creativity is more than a practice it is a celebration of identity, heritage, and community.

Born in Denison in 2003 and now based in Lincoln, Kendra is a multidisciplinary Chicana artist whose vibrant body of work highlights the beauty and complexity of Mexican-American culture. Through painting, sculpture, makeup artistry, recycled materials, murals, and custom creations, she continues to redefine what a canvas can be.

A Creative Voice Rooted in Culture

Kendra’s work blends modern artistic approaches with traditional Mexican imagery, resulting in pieces that are visually striking while also deeply meaningful. Her art often carries themes of cultural pride, representation, and storytelling. Every color, texture, and detail reflects a connection to heritage and lived experience.

Rather than limiting herself to one medium, Kendra embraces experimentation. Her artistic practice includes painting, drawing, sculpture, handmade jewelry, paper mache creations, piñatas, custom artwork, and even intricate Mexican sugar skull makeup. This freedom to create across disciplines allows her work to remain dynamic and constantly evolving.

From Murals to Freelance Artistry

A mural by Kendra Limon brings cultural imagery and landscape into a community space.

After graduating from North Star High School in 2021, Kendra began expanding her artistic footprint through mural projects across southeastern Nebraska and western Iowa. These public works brought color and cultural expression into community spaces while helping establish her voice as an emerging artist.

During this period, she also began freelancing, creating custom artwork and digital designs for small businesses and individuals who connected with her artistic style. Her ability to adapt her creativity across different formats quickly earned her recognition within her community.

In 2023, Kendra added another creative pursuit to her growing list of talents by beginning her journey into tattooing. As she continues developing her skills, tattoo artistry represents another exciting chapter in her ever-expanding creative career.

Kendra Limon’s artwork blends Mexican imagery, bold color and contemporary storytelling.

The “Precious Homies”

Among Kendra’s most recognizable creations are her “Precious Homies,” a reimagining of traditional Precious Moments porcelain figurines transformed into bold, colorful, and culturally reflective works of art.

These customized figurines are full of life and personality, representing people and experiences from the communities around her. Through these pieces, Kendra creates relatable imagery that resonates with viewers who may not often see themselves represented in traditional collectible art forms. The “Precious Homies” series perfectly captures her ability to combine nostalgia, humor, culture, and contemporary identity into a single artistic expression.

Kendra Limon’s mural work reflects her interest in heritage, symbolism and public art.

Art Without Boundaries

One of the most compelling aspects of Kendra’s work is her refusal to be confined by a single artistic lane. Whether creating large-scale murals, hand-painted keepsakes, wearable art, sculptures, or makeup designs, her creativity flows freely across surfaces and mediums.

For Kendra Limon, art exists everywhere. Her canvas has no jurisdiction. It can be found on walls, porcelain figures, paper mache, jewelry, skin, or everyday objects transformed by imagination and purpose.

As her artistic journey continues to grow, Kendra remains a powerful example of how contemporary artists can honor tradition while creating something entirely their own. Work that educates, empowers, and celebrates community through fearless creativity.
