Two regular mailing rounds remain for eligible families. Cards scheduled for Aug. 27 may take up to 10 business days to arrive, and the final regular issuance is set for Sept. 10.

LINCOLN, NE — Nebraska has another $120-per-child Summer EBT mailing scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27. A final regular round is currently set for Sept. 10.

Families included in the Aug. 20 round may still be waiting for their cards. Nebraska DHHS allows up to 10 business days for delivery after a mailing date.

Summer EBT provides one grocery benefit of $120 for each eligible school-age child. As a result, a household with two eligible children can receive $240, while a household with three can receive $360.

The application period ended Aug. 12. However, that deadline does not affect benefits already approved or the two remaining mailing rounds.

Remaining Nebraska Summer EBT dates

  • Aug. 27: Next regular mailing; benefits can be used through Dec. 26 and expire Dec. 27.
  • Sept. 10: Final regular mailing; benefits can be used through Jan. 9, 2027, and expire Jan. 10.
  • Benefit: One payment of $120 for each eligible child.
  • Delivery: Cards may take up to 10 business days to arrive.
  • Card and eligibility help: 800-383-4278, option 5.

The Aug. 20 Summer EBT cards may still be in transit

Nebraska scheduled a Summer EBT mailing for Aug. 20. That date marked the start of the mailing process, not the date every household would receive its card.

Delivery may take up to 10 business days. Therefore, the normal delivery window for that round extends beyond Aug. 22.

Families may also receive benefits for children in the same household at different times. Nebraska bases each issuance on eligibility information received from the Department of Education, schools, assistance programs and approved applications.

An eligibility letter normally arrives before the Summer EBT card.

Nebraska has two regular mailing rounds remaining

The next regular issuance is scheduled for Aug. 27. Benefits from that round can be used through Dec. 26 and expire Dec. 27.

Nebraska scheduled the final regular round for Sept. 10. Those benefits remain available through Jan. 9, 2027, and expire the following day.

The remaining rounds cover eligible children connected with SNAP, ADC or TANF, FDPIR, qualifying Medicaid programs or free and reduced-price school meals. They also include applications approved before the Aug. 12 deadline.

Nebraska DHHS notes that issuance dates remain subject to change.

Summer EBT benefits expire 122 days after issuance

Every Summer EBT payment has its own expiration date. The 122-day period begins the day after Nebraska issues the benefit.

The expiration period does not begin when the card arrives or when a household activates it. Card use also does not extend the deadline.

For example, the Aug. 27 benefit can be used through Dec. 26. Any balance left after that date expires Dec. 27.

Nebraska cannot reissue or restore Summer EBT funds after they expire. Families with benefits from earlier rounds have different deadlines based on their original issuance dates.

The complete schedule of mailing dates, last-use dates and expiration dates remains available through the Nebraska DHHS Summer EBT information.

Cards arrive in an unmarked white envelope

Nebraska sends cards to the address registered with DHHS, the child’s school or the approved Summer EBT application.

The card arrives in a white window envelope with a Sioux Falls, South Dakota, return address. The envelope may not display Nebraska DHHS information.

Benefits for multiple eligible children generally appear on one card issued to the head of household. Foster children receive cards in their own names.

Card activation is available at 877-247-6328. The automated system requests a child’s date of birth, the ZIP code connected with the mailing address and a new PIN.

Replacement-card deadlines arrive before benefits expire

Nebraska accepts replacement-card requests until about two weeks before each benefit’s expiration date.

The remaining deadlines are:

  • Aug. 20 issuance: Dec. 6.
  • Aug. 27 issuance: Dec. 13.
  • Sept. 10 issuance: Dec. 27.

A replacement card is available through EBT Edge at 877-247-6328, Nebraska’s online replacement form or DHHS.

Eligibility and card questions can also be directed to 800-383-4278, option 5, or [email protected].

The 2026 application period remains closed

Nebraska stopped accepting Summer EBT applications Aug. 12. Families cannot submit a new application for the 2026 program period.

Some children qualified automatically through SNAP, ADC or TANF, FDPIR, qualifying Medicaid coverage or approval for free or reduced-price school meals during the 2025-26 school year.

The benefit does not count as income or resources for other assistance programs. It can be used for eligible food purchases at grocery stores, farmers markets and online retailers that accept SNAP EBT.

Nebraska’s next regular Summer EBT mailing remains scheduled for Aug. 27. The final regular round is set for Sept. 10, subject to changes from Nebraska DHHS.
