Omaha, Ralston, Papillion and Lincoln will host concerts, fireworks, baseball, parades and family activities from July 3 to July 5.
Fourth of July weekend will bring family events, concerts and fireworks to Omaha and other Nebraska cities, with activities scheduled from Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5.
Events include a free concert at Gene Leahy Mall, Ralston’s annual celebration, Omaha Storm Chasers games at Werner Park, a family event at Heartwood Preserve and Uncle Sam Jam in Lincoln.
Omaha will have a free concert at Gene Leahy Mall
The RiverFront Community Concert will bring together the Omaha Symphony and Legends of Country on Friday, July 3, at Gene Leahy Mall, 1001 Douglas St.
The concert is scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is part of the Independence Day celebrations in downtown Omaha.
The performance combines symphonic music with a tribute to country artists including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill.
Ralston will celebrate with a parade, dance and fireworks
Ralston will hold its 66th Annual Independence Day Celebration from July 3 to July 5, with activities in Downtown Ralston, Historic Granary and Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
The Friday, July 3, schedule includes a family dance on Main Street at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. at Liberty First Credit Union Arena, near 73rd and Q streets.
On Saturday, July 4, the celebration will include a parade through downtown Ralston at 1 p.m. and community activities after the parade at Granary Green.
Werner Park will have baseball and patriotic activities
The Omaha Storm Chasers will play at Werner Park during Independence Day weekend, with Freedom Weekend activities in Papillion.
The team will face the Indianapolis Indians on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. both days. On Sunday, July 5, Werner Park will host American Family Day, with first pitch at 2:05 p.m.
Weekend promotions include patriotic activities, military recognition and fireworks after some games.
Heartwood Preserve will have a family event on July 4
Heartwood Preserve will host a Beach Party on Saturday, July 4, at 301 S. 145th St. in Omaha.
The event is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes a beach-themed setting, outdoor activities, food, music and an afternoon concert. The Ally Venable Band is among the scheduled performers.
The celebration offers a family option for the afternoon of July 4 in west Omaha.
Lincoln will have Uncle Sam Jam on July 3
Uncle Sam Jam will return Friday, July 3, to Haymarket Park, 403 Line Drive Circle, in Lincoln.
The free event will open the ballpark at 6 p.m. Live music will begin at 7:15 p.m., the flag-lowering ceremony will be held at 8:20 p.m. and fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.
The celebration is part of Lincoln’s Independence Day activities and coincides with America’s 250th anniversary.
Adult events and nearby activities
Omaha will also have a bar crawl for people 21 and older on Saturday, July 4, starting at Upstream Brewing Company, 514 S. 11th St. The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Oakland, Iowa, east of Omaha, the Fourth of July celebration will have activities on Main Street and at Chautauqua Park from Friday, July 3, to Saturday, July 4, with a car show, food trucks and fireworks.
